IPOH TRIP DAY 2

8th February 2015

Ipoh trip second day. Today, we wake up earlier than others, special for our breakfast “DIM SUM” also nearby our hotel.

We went to Ming Kok Dim Sum, is opposite to Fok Shan Dim Sum. Actually Fok Shan is more famous compare with Ming Kok. The reason of we are choosing Ming Kok Dim Sum is they selling the handmade Dim Sum. If you are talking about Dim Sum, you must try the handmade Dim Sum, is different with the machine product.

We also interview the lady boss’s sister in Ming Kok. They are very friendly and they also try their best to answer all the question. They even introduce the famous food in Ipoh to us.

After our breakfast, we are heading to flip market, they sell a lot of antique thins in there. Once you step in the market, you can see there are a lot of antique things at the road side. Something you had seen or haven’t seen before will be there also, will makes you feel that you back to 80 century.

After that our lecture bring us to Ipoh old town and set us free, to experiencing by ourselves.
We found a famous cendol shop. I don’t like cendol actually, but to be honestly the cendol is awesome.

The cendol we order is oreo cendol. but it special is not because of oreo, is because of it's tasted. The taste totally different with KL cendol. The coconut milk smells good, and the sugar they use also very nice. I think they are using Melaka sugar for making this cendol.

Finish our cendol, we keep finding Ipoh traditional “Kopitiam”. We try all the famous food in “Kopitiam”, such as steam egg, egg tart, dessert and the most famous Ipoh white coffee.

I can't really differentiate the taste between Ipoh white coffee and normal coffee, because I not usually drinking it, I sensitive with the cocan, if I drink one cup of coffee i will feel that my heart beat will be very fast. But Ipoh coffee I didn't feel any fast heart beat after I finish on cup of Ipoh coffee.

I really like to eat egg tart, at the morning we already eat an egg tart at Ming Kok. But this one in Tien Jing is much more delicious than Ming Kok's one. The outside skin is very crispy, and the egg part is very smooth and the smell is awesome. The shop owner said that they can sell more than 100 pieces in one day.

Here is the egg castle i mentioned just now. That was my first time to try this egg castle, the taste is special for me, the egg part is not same with the egg tart taste, previously I though is something similar with egg tart. The sugar I also not sure about it, but is very fresh to me.

They egg tea at Ipoh is totally different with KL egg tea, this one is black colour, but at KL I tried before is transparent one and abit sticky. But this one totally no have sticky feeling and inside the soup we can taste that have medicine material taste.

Our lecture request us to have a visit on Plan B building. Is a Green building, related to our design project. They also reuse back abandon material. They are doing hotel combine with café and market inside the building.

There have alot of plantation with the building, and the view is nice, very suitable for having photo at here, maybe you will get a nice background in Plan B.

Jie si and Jie ling taking photo. hahaha

For today, we only visit the commercial area in Plan B. They got sell a lot of traditional thing inside here, there is a lot of interesting  thing and we cannot found at outside. But the price also quite expensive, so I didn't buy anything in there.

Another thing is the couple lock. You can write down yours and your couple names and lock at there. For wishing couple will not break up with each other.

We found some special thing in there. Ais kepal, they shape the ice to round and apply some Melaka sugar on it. You need to suck the water and the sugar.

You can see there is a lot of greeneries apply in the building. We haven’t look it in detail, because after that our lecture will bring us to here again in day four

Can see that most of their furniture also made by recycle material which is one of the GBI system required.

There is some painting to decorating their spaces, quite interesting when you look on it. The feeling for the painting also similar with their style, it makes related with their space.

Jie si acting that she is a hard working student.

Can easily see that their style is establish.

For store important things.

We back to Ipoh new town to have our dinner. We found a famous soya bean shop, names “Qi Feng”, and we heading to “Ang Kheng Lim” shop to buy salty chicken-Yem Kok Kai as our dinner, one of the famous food in Ipoh.
This call "Tau Fu Fah" actually there is two type of sugar which is white sugar and coconut sugar, we can choose and eat with it, we choose the white sugar, cause Tau Fu Fah has no really strong taste.

Here is Funny Mountain's soya bean.

After that we heading to Sin Eng Heong to buy kaya puff and some chinese traditional biscuit.

Our dinner is Aun Kheng Lim' s salty chicken, quite hard to explain the taste, it is salty and the smell is really nice, must try when you go to Ipoh.

8.30pm we going to Kinta River
The lighting at Kinta River is very nice, quite fresh for me, and I very enjoy it.

I rent a bicycle and go around there, feel happy also, because  I have long time didn't ride a bicycle.

I rent the single people bicycle. which is RM 5 for half an hour.

After that we go to visit the tin museum which is very near with Kinta River.

10:00 pm we go back to our boutique hotel and sleep, prepare our energy for tomorrow Theme park--The Lost World!

IPOH TRIP DAY 1

7th February 2015
Today is my Ipoh trip first day. I am going with my course mate for our minor project, to            experiencing their culture.

After 3 hour nap, we reach Ipoh. Ipoh is a new place for me, I haven’t been there before, I was    very excited because our group project is all about food that means I can try all the delicious       food in Ipoh.

The first place we reach is the Ipoh tradition house; actually it is a show house. Showing the    Ipoh people live style. I can feel strong old school feeling inside the space. Many thing in there is my first time in my life to see it. Before I just saw it on TV. Quite interesting for me, I am very curious about the old life style

They selling the old thing for charity.

They also selling something(post card, old coins, antique) inside the house for charity, support the house expenses, such as water and electrical fees.

The old telephone, looks new  for me, i didn't see this before.

The traditional kitchen. Still using wood to make fire for cooking.

And there is a mini garden at the centre of house. Near by the kitchen. There is the function for mini garden, trap wind. The wind will trap by the void and go inside the house. It is one of the GBI (green building index) system. Because at that time, they don’t have any air –conditional system. They need to use it for making the space cooler.

Tea pot display, for selling also.

The old time making Ice Kacang machine.

The old transportation vehicle.

On top of the wall, they displaying the tools for building a house.

The traditional instrument.

The vinyl record is very hard to be found in this era, but during the old time that is a very normal thing for them to enjoy the music.

Their living area usually at first floor, is quite hot when we been there, because at that time they don't have air-conditional. They using a simple GBI system and some fan to maintain their indoor environment. Like the opening at ceiling because hot air will keep going up and will go out from the building by the opening. Same as sleeping area also.

Stone art work.

Old time people wearing this to their working place.

Nice counter.

Upper floor is living area and sleeping room. There will be hotter than downstairs. But at the top floor, they create the opening at the roof. To let the hot air goes out.

Their sleeping room.

Traditional dresser.

There is an artist--Lim Ru Hui been here before. She draw a drawing for them and let them print in postcard to sell it for their charity.

After that finish visit, we leave and continue our travel, I will remember it for my whole life, is very precious experience for me.

After that, we are going a special pottery shop. The shop people prepare all pottery by themselves and the only thing need to do is decorate it and colour it. I try my first time to make pottery at there, something like playing mud. It is very fun and enjoy it.

My simple pottery design.

Jiand is planning to "play mud" ???

We leave our pottery under the sun after we finish decorating for drying. The shop owner say need to leave it three day for drying, so we need to bring back and after three day only can colour it.

Around 7pm, we reached our Ipoh boutique hotel. We are going to stay there for another 3 days. The room is nice for me.

overall view for our room.

We settle our luggage and all the thing, we direct go find our dinner nearby our hotel. We are hungry, luckily there have famous BEAN SPROUT CHICKEN nearby our hotel.
Actually, “Ho Fan” is the most famous thing in Ipoh. But at that time, I am too hungry, didn’t notice about it, I directly order rice as my dinner.
